Stress, Anxiety and Panic attacks


Anxiety is a feeling of worry, fear and uneasiness. It can be debilitating and affect the way we feel and how we behave. It can manifest physical symptoms in the form of illnesses and it can also give a fight or flight response which makes an individual irrational. Examples of situations that make people anxious are:

  • sitting an exam
  • going into hospital
  • attending an interview
  • starting a new job
  • moving away from home
  • having a baby
  • being diagnosed with an illness
  • deciding to get married or divorced


A panic attack is an intense feeling of anxiety. Physical symptoms include palpitations, shaking, sweating, nausea, breathlessness, dizziness, insomnia, increase heart rate and high blood pressure. The feelings can be extreme enough that some people believe they are having a heart attack.
